New City Parks brings parks to neighborhoods that need them.

We work with communities and mayors in small cities to help design, finance, build, program, and steward welcoming and sustainable parks in under-resourced neighborhoods.

EQUITY

We have a single focus: helping under-resourced communities realize their visions for neighborhood parks that are beautiful, safe, and well-maintained.

COMMUNITY

We only go where grassroots groups want us, and we listen. We work directly with neighborhood residents and community stakeholders, translate their ideas into buildable designs, and get projects in the ground.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESILIENCY

Urban green spaces promote stormwater capture, reduce air pollution, create habitat, and provide much-needed shade in neighborhoods dominated by asphalt and cement.

HEALTH

Safe and appealing parks within an easy walk provide exercise, play, and communion with nature. All are essential in combatting heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and obesity, as well as depression and anxiety.

SYSTEMIC CHANGE

We leave behind parks that are models of what can and should be done to better serve our citizens — but that’s not all. We also leave cities with improved systems, new priorities, and strengthened ties to their communities, so they are poised to do more.
